Start with two pieces material. Back 40x40. Front 30x30 Lay right sides together.
Start by pinning in the middle of each side by bringing the back to the front. Pin length of all sides. I double pin where I plan to leave my opening.
Pin to corners. Corners should look like this:
Start sewing where you will leave your opening. Be sure to back stitch here.
Sew the length of each side stopping short of corner little more than 1/4 inch. Do not sew straight through the corners. keep same seam allowance on each side.
Sewn corners should look like above photo.
Bring seams together bringing wrong side of front together you will create a triangle with the whole blanket. Making sure there are now wrinkles, line up the corner perpendicular with sewing foot as seen below
Sew to end of side seam marked here in photo by the white pin. You'll notice you make a small triangle. Do this to each corner.
When done you will be able to see square edges even though the blanket is still inside out. Always turn right side out and check your corners before you clip you seams.
Turn your blanket inside out through opening. Push out corners with your hand.
Your blanket should look self binded. Start pressing. I pin edges as I press to keep it from sliding.
Be sure to press the opening and pin so you can catch it in your decorative stitch.
Depending on your decorative stitch I usually line up the seam with the center of my presser foot.
Stitch around all sides and your done.
I have made many of these blankets and you need to remember they take practice and patience! Relax and have fun. There are many different fabric combinations you can use. I have seen ribbon stitched on the seam. Here are a few of my son's.

Hobby Lobby at Quarry Bend
Hobby lobby is fun store to browse! Chris will even go with me there. There is stuff for everyone. We didn't really need anything on this trip. We hadn't been for awhile and were looking for some place indoors to just meander through. We did however find 3 items to purchase. We got to the register and there were two checkers. One line was long and the other had couple checking out. I went to the shorter of the two. My baby was starting to fuss so I gave my husband the keys and told him to take the baby to the car and I would be out shortly. After he left I noticed the woman was checking out and the man was still shopping. He kept coming back and asking the checker questions about products that were on display. So she had to get a manager to assist him while his wife waited at the register. After he decided he didn't want what he was looking at the checker then realizes that she needed a price check. The line started to mount behind me. I looked over at the other line and saw that it was going nowhere as well. As the manager walked around and another employee went on a smoke break (I over heard her tell the checker where she was going) I had had enough. I plopped down the 3 items I had in my hand and headed out the door.
I don't understand places that let lines stack up with customers and don't open another register when there are clearly more bodies to do so. Makes me sad because I like the store and it's selection but if I were to really need something I don't think I could get in and out of that store in a reasonable amount of time so I would probably go some place else. The nice thing about this valley is there is more than one of these stores around.

Sonic on Highland drive
As most who know me will tell you, I love a refreshing fountain diet coke. I have limited myself to one a day. So by the time I decide I want one I really want one. My husband and I went to Sonic on Highland Drive not far from our home. It was 3:45 pm. HAPPY HOUR (half priced drinks) I pulled up and pressed the button to order. We sat there. I noticed the button was lit so I assumed it was working. I said to my husband this is taking forever. I bet they want to hold out til 4:00 so we have to pay full price. He told me to push the button again. What could that hurt, right? Still waiting. After ten minutes without a response we drove across the street to good ol' McDonalds and gave them our business. Needless to say we won't be going back there.
Getting started
My husband and I have been a bad service magnet. We are getting tired of it! We know we can't change things but I really need to vent at times. Chris suggested to me today that I start a new blog and blog about my experiences. I don't expect many to read this but at least I can put it out there. If I get really mad I can always e-mail a link to the company I feel has wronged me.
